Frequently Asked Questions

How does the doctor keep up to date on all of the current techniques and materials?

Dental and medical science and techniques are constantly changing as new research and developments take place. In order to stay up to date, Dr. Ginsburg regularly attends continuing education classes and conferences that focus on the latest techniques in cosmetic, restorative and preventive dentistry.

Some recent highlights of Dr. Ginsburg’s continuing education include a one year long Synergy Training Program for Advanced Implant and Restorative techniques, as well as a two day retreat, to the Zimmer Dental Implant Institute in Parsippany, NJ for the latest implant restorative technology and techniques. Both of these educational experiences were in collaboration with the periodontal surgical specialists that we work with for your treatment.

Dr. Ginsburg also belongs to a variety of professional organizations including The American Dental Association, The Massachusetts Dental Society and The Tufts Dental Alumni Association.

How do I know when it's time to come in for a checkup?

When you first visit our practice, Dr. Ginsburg and his hygienist will recommend how often it will be necessary for you to come for regular cleanings and check-ups after a comprehensive oral examination.

Do you accept my insurance plan?

We are in-network providers for Delta Dental, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Cigna PPO dental insurance plans. We understand the value of insurance benefits and will assist you in obtaining your maximum insurance benefit no matter which insurance plan you have. We will gladly process insurance claims for all types of insurance and will also estimate your deductible and co-payment. The deductible and co-payment (the portion the insurance does not cover) are due at the time services are rendered. For multi-visit procedures (crowns, dentures, implants), your co-payment, which is usually half of the total fee, is expected at the start of the procedure.

Some insurance companies do not accept assignment of benefits. They pay you, the insured, directly; therefore, we will submit a claim for you. However, a payment in full for the services provided will be expected at the time of treatment. We gladly process insurance claims as a courtesy to our patients, but you must do your part by furnishing us with the correct and appropriate information, and inform us of any changes at the time services are rendered. Even though we process your insurance claims for you, you remain responsible for the entire bill. We reserve the right after 45 days, if the insurance has not paid your claim, to require the amount due to be paid by you.

Cosmetic dentistry, veneers, whitening treatments etc. are usually not covered by insurance.

We feel that your insurance should never dictate the quality or timing of your treatment. If you have extensive or long term dental care, we will determine the estimated time it will take to complete your treatment and make payment arrangements to coincide with the estimated time period. If you have any questions, please call us at 617.536.9057.

Will I be charged if I need to cancel an appointment?

We know your schedule can change abruptly. If you need to cancel an appointment, please call us as soon as possible so we can reschedule your appointment. If you cancel less than 48 hours before your scheduled time, we reserve the right to charge you a cancellation fee.

What do I do if I have an emergency when the office is closed?

If you have an emergency, please call our office number at 617.536.9057 and follow the instructions to contact Dr. Ginsburg.

What payment options do you provide?

Our office accepts cash, check and credit cards such as Visa, Master Card, Discover or American Express. We also offer payment plans sponsored by CareCredit. Please contact our office for details. Any amount not covered by insurance is the patient's responsibility.

What precautions do you take to ensure patient safety?

There are a number of things we do in our office to ensure patient safety. We provide the best and most proven services, instruments, and products available in dentistry. We know they will keep you pain-free and comfortable during your visit.

In addition, we offer digital radiography which reduces radiation exposure by 90%.

We keep up-to-date on the latest sterilization procedures and research. Our instruments are thoroughly sterilized in accordance with American Dental Association accepted guidelines. Our sterilization center maximizes instrument sterilization and eliminates the chance of cross-contamination.

Additionally, our entire office staff is CPR certified according to the guidelines of the American Heart Association. We also have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in our office for your safety.

If you have other questions about safety or sterilization, Dr. Ginsburg would be happy to talk to you.
